Episode 4: Do you even RIFTS, Bro?

savagecast_thumb_ep_004_Mommy and Bull leave the safety of their caves to join Sean Patrick Fannon for a sneak peak at the imminently upcoming Savage Worlds RIFTS setting.

During our interview, Sean answers how he got Kevin Siembieda to let his baby go play with the Savage Worlds kids, how the SW version handles stuff like MEGA DAMAGE, what old favorites from the original Palladium line will make their return, where the timeline will start, why “conversion” is the wrong idea, new artwork, and where to follow the progress.

Sean will be back on future shows GMing the RIFTS actual play we recorded and answering our questions on world building, game design, and his history in gaming.

SavageCast joined Kristian Serrano and Ron Blessing on the Savage Bloggers Network [watch the video] [listen to the podcast].  We talked about how the Rocky Mountain Savages came about and the legacy of old pod casts spawning new pod casts and SW groups and the butterfly effect that brings us a large and growing Savage Community across the country and now the world over.

About Christopher "Savage Bull" Landauer

Christopher "Savage Bull" Landauer talks fast and loud, writes long and densely, and plays his characters with abandon. When not at a gaming table, you'll find him in his Jeep with his Border Collies or cursing at the TV offering his alma mater's football team free but rarely taken advice. He is most proud of never having been convicted of a felony.

  1. hannibal ad portas says:

Any word on when the actual play will be released?

    • The actual play has been delayed by PEG for one reason: We played in the “Enter the Odd Squad” adventure which involves porting a number of extant Savage Worlds archetypes into RIFTS. Since this isn’t RIFTS-as-written and because PEG doesn’t want people’s first impression to be that Savage RIFTS is necessarily a crossover with other SW properties and not just an awesome option, they would like us to hold the episode.

We appreciate the concern, there are a lot of RIFTS fans who are new to SW who are very interested in the Kickstarter and they’d be lost and confused if the first actual play they hear has Deadlands and Weird Wars Rome and Accursed, etc. blended with Cyber Knights, Juicers, etc.

So Savage Worlds folks will not be lost, but RIFTS folks might get the wrong impression of what PEG is doing with RIFTS. So when we get the go ahead we’ll publish. Almost assuredly after the KS.
